桜の季節！インドネシアからの女子留学生の夢は「祖国の新都市建設？」

桜が咲き始め地元の公園も綺麗になりました～。（笑）
今回は留学生の将来の夢についてです。
昨年　末　インドネシアの女子留学生と知り合いました。
最初は　ヒジャブを深く被っていて技能実習生かなと思いました。
しかし、「どこから来たの？インドネシアかな？」と聞くと
驚いた様に　「そうです。よく分かりましたね」と返してくれました。
ここで何をしているの？と聞くと「留学生」です。
「専攻はなに？」と言うと
「○○インストラクション」と言いました。
私は「聞き取れなくて、　工学部？と言うと「建築工学部」と教えてくれました。

私は　海外からの女性留学生が工学部で学ぶのは初めて聞いたので
思わず「本当に？」と聞き返しました。
すると「本当です、将来は　大きなビルを建てたい、所謂「都市設計」ですね」との事　。
そこで、私が　「インドネシアは首都　ジャカルタが遷都するので
そこで活躍できますよ。」と言うと
「良く知っていますね。　そうなのですよ。」

私は、ニュースでインドネシア・ジャカルタの遷都（首都移転）を知っていました。
概要：インドネシアは、現在の首都ジャカルタから
カリマンタン島（ボルネオ島）東部の「ヌサンタラ」という新首都に移転する計画を進めています。
主な理由は3点です。
１，ジャカルタの過密問題
約1,000万人が住む大都市で、交通渋滞やインフラの老朽化が深刻。
２，地盤沈下と洪水
ジャカルタは海抜が低く、一部の地域は毎年数センチずつ沈んでいます。
３，国の均衡発展
ジャワ島に人口と経済が集中しているため、他の地域も発展させる狙いです。
〇そして、新首都「ヌサンタラ」への進捗状況は？
昨年から政府機関の移転開始し完全移転は2045年ごろの予定です。
「環境に優しいスマートシティ」を目指す方針です。
このカリマンタン島は自然豊かで、災害リスクが低いと言われています。
そして、私が　「貴方が将来は　首都の都市設計を手伝い
上手くすれば　スーパーリッチ間違いないですよ。」と言うと
彼女は、大声で笑いました。

「スーパーリッチ、スーパーリッチなれれば良いですね。」と～。
続いて、私は　仕事でバリ島いった事がある話をしました。
バリ島はインドネシアの人気リゾート地で、「神々の島」とも呼ばれています。
美しいビーチと独自の文化が魅力です。
私が行って、驚いたのは、美しい夕日と夜の松明のかがり火でした。
南国特有の温かさを感じる光でした。（笑）
また、ビーチは世界的な人気リゾート地だけに海外から沢山の美人さんが来ていました。
「なんか～お金持ちの社交場」みたいでした。（笑）
また、彼女は　「私もバリ島は好きですよ」と言いました。
また、余談ですが　私は仕事でバリ島に　一度行きました。
その打ち合わせでクタ地区の有名飲食店に
行く予定だったのが　急きょ別の打ち合わせが入り行けなくなりました。
非常に残念でした。（汗）
帰国後　数日して仕事をしているとニュース速報が入りました。
なんと～行く予定だったお店で「テロ事件が発生して
日本人を含め１０人ほどの死傷者」とのニュースでした。
この話をすると彼女は
「その頃は　私はまだ生まれてないので　良く知りませんが
幼い頃バリ島のテロ事件の話」は聞きました。
「怖いですね！　今はあまり聞きませんけど
　日本は　安心・安全で良いですよ！勉強に集中できます」と言いました。
私は、この言葉を聞いて　嬉しくなりました。
そして、静かに安心して学ぶ事のできる環境のすばらしさを改めて感じました。

A Female Exchange Student from Indonesia
Dreams of “Building a New Capital for Her Homeland?”
The cherry blossoms have started to bloom,
making the local park look even more beautiful! (Haha)
This time, I’d like to talk about the future dreams of an exchange student.
At the end of last year,
I met a female exchange student from Indonesia.
At first, she was wearing her hijab deeply,
so I thought she might be a technical intern.
However, when I asked, “Where are you from?
Indonesia, perhaps?”
she looked surprised and replied,
“Yes! How did you know?”

When I asked her what she was doing here,
she answered, “I’m an exchange student.”
Then I asked, “What’s your major?”
She said, “○○ Instruction.”
Since I couldn’t quite catch what she said,
I asked, “Engineering?”
She clarified, “Yes, I’m in the Department of
Architectural Engineering.”

Studying Engineering as a Female Exchange Student
I was quite surprised because it was the first time
I had heard of a female exchange student studying engineering.
So, I couldn’t help but ask, “Really?”
She responded confidently,”Yes, it’s true. In the future,
I want to build large buildings,in other words, city planning.”
So, I said to her,
“Since Indonesia is relocating its capital from Jakarta,
you’ll have a great opportunity to contribute there!”
She smiled and said,
“You know a lot! Yes, that’s right.”
I had read in the news that Indonesia was relocating its capital from Jakarta.

Overview of Indonesia’s Capital Relocation

Indonesia is currently planning to move its capital
from Jakarta to a new capital city called “Nusantara,”

located in the eastern part of Kalimantan (Borneo Island).
There are three main reasons for this relocation:

Overcrowding in Jakarta
Jakarta is a mega-city with a population of around 10 million.
Severe traffic congestion and aging infrastructure are major issues.
Land Subsidence and Flooding
Since Jakarta is at a low elevation, some areas sink several centimeters each year.
Balanced National Development
Currently, Indonesia’s economy and population are
highly concentrated on Java Island. 　　　　　　　　　　
The goal is to promote development in other regions as well.

How is the Progress on the New Capital “Nusantara”?
Government offices started relocating last year, 　　　　　　　
and the full transfer is expected to be completed around 2045.
The government aims to create an

“eco-friendly smart city.”
Kalimantan is known for its rich natural environment and
is said to have a lower risk of natural disasters.

A Bright Future?
Then, I told her, “If you get involved in designing the new capital,
you might become super rich!”
She laughed out loud and said, “Super-rich?　
That would be amazing!”

My Experience in Bali
I also shared my experience of visiting Bali for work.
Bali is one of Indonesia’s most famous resort destinations,
often called “The Island of Gods.”
Its beautiful beaches and unique culture make it very attractive.
What surprised me the most was the breathtaking sunset and
the warm glow of torches at night.
It felt like the essence of a tropical paradise. (Haha)
Since Bali is a world-class resort,
many beautiful people from around the world were visiting.
It felt like an exclusive gathering place for the wealthy! (Haha)
She responded, “I love Bali too!”

A Chilling Incident
As a side note, when I went to Bali for work,
I had planned to visit a famous restaurant in the Kuta area.
However, due to a last-minute schedule change,
I couldn’t go. I was disappointed. (Sweat)
A few days after I returned to Japan,
a news flash appeared while I was working.
Shockingly, the very restaurant
I was supposed to visit was attacked in a terrorist incident,
resulting in about ten casualties, including Japanese victims.
When I told her this story,
she said, “I wasn’t born yet at that time,
so I don’t know much about it.
But I’ve heard about the Bali terrorist attack from when
I was little.
That’s scary!”
She added, “I don’t hear much about such incidents anymore,
but Japan is such a safe country.
I can focus on my studies here!”
Hearing her say that made me happy.
Once again, I deeply appreciated how wonderful
it is to have a peaceful environment where people can study without worry.
