マイアミの思い出！ゴルフ場はプライベートプール？

WBC「侍ジャパン」優勝で 盛り上がるマイアミの思い出！
地元の人気キャスターとのラウンド、後半です。
後半は私もスイングが安定してきて 大きなミスもなくプレイしていました。
いかし、そうした中で、記憶に残るのは「16番ホール」だったと思います。
このホールは1７0 ヤードほどのショートホール。

このホールは左手に池があり、その池に隣接して高級住宅地が広がっていました。
こんなに住宅とコースが近いゴルフ場は国内にはあまりなく、
またまた驚きました。
まあ、全英オープン開催コースでは、本当にコースと住宅が並走していますが……。
当然、プロなら問題ありませんけど、素人がプレイするにはかなり怖い気がします。
そして、私はティーショットを見事に左に曲げて池に打ち込んでしまいました。
しかし、パートナーの男性アナウンサーは見事グリーン右サイドにオンしました。
「ナイスショット！」と私が言うと、彼は「サンクス！」と答えました。
そして驚いたことに、彼は「ちょっと待っていて」と言っていきなり
服を 脱ぎだしました。
「何をするのかな？」と思っていると、私の打ち込んだあたりに
パンツ姿で飛び込んで、ボールを探し始めました。
しばらくするとボールを 2～3 個掴んで、「見つかったよ！
ちょっと得したね」と笑顔で叫びました。
私は「ゴルフの最中に、裸で飛び込んでボールを拾う光景は
かつて見たこともなかった」ので、本当に「唖然」としました。
はっきり言って、言葉が出ませんでした！
「アメリカではこんかこともあるのか～」と改めて日米の違い感じました。
私は非常に驚きましたが、拾ってもらったボールを受け取り、
「ありがとう。このボールは一 生忘れないよ」と伝えました。
現在、この記念ボールは自宅で大事に保管していますが、
大事にし過ぎて、行方不明の「ロストボール」状態です。
この後、１７，１８番とプレイしてこの日のラウンドを終わりました。
私のこの日のスコアは 100 ストローク前後だったはず、
彼は上手くて 86 ストローク位だったと思います。

本当にこのコースでのプレイは楽しく、今でも思い出に残る綺麗なコースでした。
ただ、気をつけないといけないことがあります。
マイアミは亜熱帯地域なので、時折激しいスコールが起こります。
よくTVなどでは「バケツをひっくり返した様な大雨」と言われますが～。
確かに、その通りの大雨に遭遇しました。
確か、最終１８番ホールの事です。私がティーショットしようしたら
突然のスコール（嵐）に見舞われました。
時間的には、午後 2 時から ３時くらいの間で、
約 20 分ほどだけなのですが、本当に滝のような雨が瞬間的に降り注ぎます。
地域や場合により落雷もあるようです。
この間は全てのプレイが止まります。
地元の人は当然慣れているので全く気にもしませんが、
私は初めてのことでしたので、 その激しさに驚きました。
そして、カート内で雨を防いだものの、全身がずぶ濡れになり、
「どうしようか？」と思っていたら～。
彼が「問題ないよ！」と一言！
確かに、間もなく猛暑が復活、私の服もすぐに乾いたので、
その速さに再度驚きました。
「猛暑→大雨→猛暑」 ２０分位で変わる短時間のお天気変動！
私（日本人）には理解できない！汗

これより以前に、ニューヨークやハワイでもプレイした経験がありましたが、
マイアミのコースはダイナミックで大きくフラットで、コースセッティングは
かなり違っていました。
アメリカのゴルフを地元のキャスターにサポートされて堪能しましたが、
いろいろな意味で圧倒されました。汗
大自然の中の、このヒューマンなコンタクト、コミュニケーション、
パフォーマンスはマイアミならでは？でしょうか！（笑）
プレイ終了後に 彼から嬉しい驚きの提案が！

Memories of Miami,
the place where the Japan won the championship in WBC!
NO8 Surprise! Miami golf course has a private pool ?
This is the second half of my round with a popular local newscaster.
In the second half of the round, my swing became more consistent,
and I was playing without making any major mistakes.
However, the most memorable hole was the 16th hole.
This hole is about 170 yards short.

There was a pond on the left side of this hole,
and an upscale residential area spread out adjacent to the pond.
There are few golf courses in Japan
that have such a proximity between the houses and the course.
I was surprised again.
Well, at the course where the British Open is held,
the course and houses really run side by side. …….
Naturally, this is not a problem for professionals,
but it is quite scary for amateurs to play.
And I hit a tee shot that turned to the left,
and into the water.
But my partner, a male announcer,
hit it beautifully on the right side of the green.
“Nice shot!” I spoke.
He replied, “Thanks!”
Then, to my surprise, he said, “Wait a minute,”.
He suddenly took off his clothes.
I thought to myself, “What is he doing?”
He jumped into the area where I had hit the ball.
After a while, he grabbed a couple of balls and
shouted with a smile, “I found them!”
“You got a little something happiness,”
he exclaimed with a smile.
I had never seen anyone jump in naked and
pick up a ball in the middle of a round of golf.
I was speechless, to say the least!
I was stunned by the difference between Japan and the U.S.
I was incredibly surprised, but I was passed the ball,
and I said, “Thank you,”
I will never forget this ball.
I am currently keeping this commemorative ball at home,
But I took too much care of it and it is now a “lost ball”.
After this, I played the 17th and 18th holes to finish my round.
My score for the day must have been around 100 strokes,
and his score was 86 strokes at best.
I really enjoyed playing this course and
it was a beautiful course that I still remember.
However, you must be careful.

Miami is in the subtropical zone,
so, squalls can be quite severe at times.
It is often said on TV that the heavy rainfall is “like
a bucket overturned.”
Indeed, we did encounter a heavy rainfall just like that.
It was on the 18th hole.
I was about to tee off.
I was hit by a sudden squall (storm).
It was only for about 20 minutes between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.,
but the rain was really like a waterfall,
pouring down momentarily.
There were also lightning strikes in some areas and
in some cases.
All golf play stopped during this time.
The locals were used to it and didn’t mind it at all,
I was surprised at the intensity of the rainfall,
as it was the first time for me.
And although the cart protected me from the rain,
I was soaked all over,
“What should I do?” I was thinking,
He said, “No problem! “.
Indeed, the heat wave returned soon after,
and my clothes dried quickly,
I was surprised again in how quickly.
The weather changed in a brief period of time,
from heat wave to heavy rain to heat wave in about 20 minutes!
I (Japanese) don’t understand it! Sweat!

I had played in New York and Hawaii before this,
but the Miami course was dynamic, big, and flat,
and the course setting was quite different.
I enjoyed the American golf experience with
the support of a local newscaster～,
I was overwhelmed in many ways. Sweat
There were the human contact and communication and performance amid the great outdoors.
It is only possible in Miami! (Laugh)
After the golf play,
he offered a pleasant surprise to me!
